Introduction

The Presley Family Estate Dispute
Priscilla Presley, the former wife of Elvis Presley, has moved to challenge her granddaughter’s inheritance following the death of her daughter, Lisa Marie Presley.
According to TMZ on January 27, Priscilla Presley filed a petition requesting the court to review a trust established by Lisa Marie Presley in 2010. At that time, Lisa Marie appointed her mother, along with business manager Barry Siegel, to oversee the trust while her children were still minors. However, Priscilla stated that she had only recently discovered that both she and Siegel had been removed from their roles and replaced by Lisa Marie’s children, Riley and Benjamin Keough.
In her court filing, Priscilla Presley raised serious doubts about the authenticity of the document that authorized the change in trustees. She asserted that she had never been informed by her daughter of such a decision. Moreover, she questioned whether the document was legitimate, noting that it misspelled her name and that the signature did not resemble Lisa Marie Presley’s usual handwriting.
Priscilla has asked the court to invalidate the request that removed both her and Barry Siegel from the trust. This legal action has reportedly created tension between the former wife of the “King of Rock & Roll” and Riley Keough, Lisa Marie’s eldest daughter. Riley currently holds control over the trust following the death of her brother, Benjamin Keough, in 2020.
Born in 1945, Priscilla Presley was Elvis Presley’s only wife. The couple married in 1967 and divorced in 1973. Their daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, born in 1968, was Elvis’s sole child. After Elvis Presley’s death, Priscilla managed and oversaw his estate until Lisa Marie reached the age of 21, playing a pivotal role in preserving and expanding his legacy.
Lisa Marie Presley passed away at the age of 55 on the morning of January 12 (local time) at a hospital near Calabasas, California, after suffering cardiac arrest at her home. Her death has not only marked the end of a singular life shaped by extraordinary legacy, but has also brought renewed scrutiny and complexity to the stewardship of the Presley family estate—an inheritance deeply entwined with music history and cultural memory.
